October 8: Sprite creates failed due to oversized container image (21:10UTC)

A routine update to the Sprites base image added enough content to exceed Machines’ 8 GiB root filesystem limit. When workers tried to pull the new image, they ran out of space mid-extraction and the pull failed. Our orchestrator didn’t distinguish “this image will never fit” from a transient pull error, so it kept retrying. We mitigated the incident by rolling back to the previous image build.
