Over the past several weeks, we've been hard at work open sourcing all components of the Fly runtime. It's official! You can now deploy our core software to production, but it takes a little elbow grease and a fair amount of infrastructure. If you want to give this a try, let us know and we can help!
We've accomplished a lot in our first year at Fly... but there's so much more we want to do! We believe in open source software and are committed to building a community where we can all grow as developers. Not only do we feel it's important to feel connected and have the ability to shape the tools you use, we also recognize the security benefits in maintaining transparency throughout the development process.
So without further ado, I'm eager to share ways you can get involved and support our growing open source community!
Help us document: we've just released our internal code as open source and recognize that documentation is still in need of some TLC. If you're struggling to setup your local environment or need help understanding something, don't hesitate to ask!
Submit feature requests: something missing or need improvement? We look forward to your feedback and love pull requests!
Give talks: if you're giving a talk at a local meetup or conference, we wanna hear about it (and may even have some sweet swag for you)!
Tell your friends: getting started is as easy as
⭐️🎶 If you like it then you gotta put a star on it 🎶⭐️
As your fearless community manager, and purveyor of pop music, I'm always available (err, unless I'm sleeping 😴) to help out and answer any questions, so please don't hesitate to email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) or ping me on Twitter. Thanks so much for supporting Fly and I can't wait to see what our open source adventures together will bring!
